George W. F. Cook (May 20, 1919 – September 26, 2009) was a Vermont attorney and politician who served as President of the Vermont State Senate and United States Attorney for the District of Vermont.

George Wallace Foster Cook was born in Shrewsbury, Vermont on May 20, 1919.〔Vermont Birth Records, 1909-2008, entry for George Wallace Cook, accessed June 24, 2012〕 Named for an uncle who died in World War I, he graduated from Middlebury College in 1940〔(Vermont Secretary of State ), Vermont Legislative Directory, 1985, page 443〕 and became an aeronautical engineer at Pratt & Whitney in Hartford, Connecticut.〔(Bruce Edwards ), Sixty-five Years in Love and War, Rutland Herald, April 21, 2008〕

After the war Cook enrolled at Columbia University Law School, where he received his law degree in 1948. In 1955 Cook relocated to Shrewsbury and became a partner in a Rutland law firm.〔Vermont Legislative Directory, 1985, page 443〕 In 1958 he was elected to the Vermont State Senate,〔(Vermont Secretary of State ), Vermont Legislative Directory, 1959, page 794〕 and he served five terms, 1959 to 1969.
